2.1.11

new york we've been here since the twenty-eighth christ it took forever. it's january second now, still at my friend niall's place on the upper west side. marisa is asleep sick in bed and we're hoping it's a quick twenty-four hour kind of virus, etc. i've developed a new project: download the entire slumblerland discography (or at least as much of it as i can find online). so far the ropers have proven to be my favorite find. whorl is also great, but i've only listened to one song of theirs. here is "revolver" by the ropers and "maybe it's better" by whorl:

these two songs are awesome.

i've been thinking a lot lately about labels and stuff, what to do, how to get on them, which one i want. i think we fit on slumberland. or captured. sub pop is obviously a dream.

i also finally finished recording a new song called "need you in my life" that i wrote last october (i posted the demo somewhere). my friend matt put down some really awesome background harmonies during the chorus, and our band best friend justin (from craft spells) helped me finish it up one tired drunken night in los angeles not too long ago. i'm not going to share it yet because i want it to be the a-side of a 7" single and the first song to be shared from album number two (which when/if an indie label puts it out on 12" will be considered a proper lp, lp number one, etc). so really i want the dudes over at slumberland to hear it and to want to put it out. pipe dreams maybe.

in other news, the new craft spells 7" (after the moment b/w love well spent) is going to put them on the map. justin sent me the finalized mastered versions of both songs yesterday (i've heard about four different incarnations of after the moment and the final one is obviously the best) and seriously it's too fucking gorgeous. that comes out in february, i can't wait. finally got around to listening to the soft moon record, that is one twisted set of songs. i love it.

well it's january anyway, nearly a year since i wrote "fever not dead" strung out and hung over in a paris hotel room. i remember that day because i was drunk by noon smoking gauloises bleus on the balcony of my room looking at the eiffel tour listening to 'how to disappear completely' on repeat. you know, one of those days. i'm not here, this isn't happening.

etc.
